Help, pci graphics card problems?

I enjoy an old gateway near intel extreme integrated graphics. I know I need a untried computer, but I got a hold of a 128mb pci radeon graphics card. I simply have pci slots. I installed the card but the graphics are worse than up to that time. No matter how illustrious I set the refresh rate the eyeshade flickers like its set really low. I hold a crt monitor. Is this normal next to pci video cards. I thought it would be better than the integrated graphics? I have 1 gb of bump, so thats not the problem. Any insight would be great.

Help, pci graphics card problems?

I would try a couple of things...

First - Make sure the "on board" card is disabled in the bios. This will engineer sure that the drivers to not load up for the Intel video.

Second - Install the hottest drivers for the ATI card (www.ati.com) and make sure the monitor is not "default" that you hold either the drivers for the specific monitor or the "Plug and Play" drivers are installed.

Reboot and you should be glad.

Hope this helps.
You requirement to install the driver for the new video card. They should own came on a disc with the card. If not, bring back the driver from ATI:

http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html...
make sure its set to 24 or 32 bit color. also generate sure that you have the most recent drivers for it
did you install the latest drivers? did you travel into the settings and adjust the monitor settings?
